Tickets, Retribution and Walleyes
By DICK WOBBY
RETRIBUTION, it’s a funny thing. We get struck or wronged and we wait till an opportunity that we can get even. And even is never enough, An eye for an eye, I think not. I want two eyes for my eye. We have watched for the last year an escalating series of getting even from two Nascar drivers that really got out of hand this past weekend, and as I write, could once again raise its ugly head again in Bristol. Now remember the speeds aren’t as great in Bristol, Nascar will certainly be watching both Edwards and Keselowski so it will simmer for a week or two. But it will come back. It sells tickets, when is going to happen, no one knows, But it will happen Nascar should of taken care of this at first strike. Both Edwards and Keselowski should both sit out a race and think about their actions. If this happened at one of our local tracks Mr. Tom Curly would have booted the two of them. You see its usually not the people directly involved in retribution at this level, its usually those around them that get hurt. There’s generally no winners with actions like this.

It’s kind of funny, this whole Prius thing, technology is finally getting even with us. Not to say that American made cars don’t have their share of problems, but how much are you willing to risk for a few extra miles a gallon. The Prius was the next generation motor vehicle it was going to put green back into our environment and Toyotas pockets. Even a year ago as problems started to occur the NHTSA failed to respond all that quickly. Books have been written on Toyotas corporate leadership and yet just recently Mr. Toyota himself admits “we let profits get in the way of safety.” And now it seems like Balloon Boy II has come to their rescue, all is not in yet but, is it possible the gentleman in California was just looking to make a quick buck and do a few interviews. I think so. Yes there is a problem, we all know that, but come on, once again CNN jumps the gun a give this dope the front page he wanted. California has filed a lawsuit and you can bet others states will follow. I had a funny thought how many times over the last month law enforcement officers have heard the old accelerator stuck story. Now another thought; just did a search for Toyota problems. Oh you don’t want to go there.

I have to commend those people in the high seat of Norwich Hockey, what a change in ticket administration. I was a little scared when I first got my “season card” this wasn’t going to work, “No Ticky No Laundry.” Well you all proved me and fellow doubters wrong. I have to say “never a blip, never a hitch” got into every game and kept right on going though Elmira. I love the ease and convenience. I never thought getting tickets would be so easy. Again, Great Job.

Sarge, Where are you? It seems like the only guy not to get his season ticket this year was “Old Sarge”. Where have you been? Sarge, I generally have an extra seat, there have been some great games, You’re missed and welcome in Crumbs Corner anytime.

Well, they did it, I don’t know how, But after sitting through 59 minutes of some of the worst hockey we’ve seen this year, the Norwich men pulled it together in overtime to take the win from the hands of Elmira. The turning point of the game actually came at the 3:01 mark, when referee Joel Dupree was hit in the face by the puck, and fell like an old bag of flour. The game was halted, the referee was attended to, And here came the turning point, with a large biological spill permeating the ice, the ever ready ice and Zamboni crew mounted their stead and proceeded in what reminded me of the a New England Patriot moment. You know the one, where someone came out and cleared the 20 yard line with a snow blower so the Pats could kick a field goal in what many contend was one of the most controversial wins in NFL history. With their stead mounted the crew proceeded to do away with the mess on the ice, against the better wishes of the Elmira coaching staff. Much to the crews defense it had to be cleaned, the mess was quite distracting and it gave us fans something exciting to watch. The Zamboni crew made short work of “dry shaving” a nice shinny area between the Crease and the Faceoff circle where the incident occurred. Mind you both goals came from the other side, the first from freshman Steve shroeder who tied things up to push the game into overtime. And the next and final one from Pier-Oliver Cotnior, who brought the electrically charged house down, poking in a shot from Emmond Bell and Lake Placid here we come. “John fire up the jet the Northfield News Team is going to Lake Placid”

Once Again, I have overstayed my welcome I had so much more to expound on, The Tazering incident, Now that I’m 50 I think anyone over 50 should not be Tazered, Man or Women if two 20 to 30 year old physically fit law enforcement officers cannot subdue me without getting hurt, maybe their in the wrong line of work. But more on that later.

THE PLAY, THE PLAY, THE PLAY Do you remember the little guy on Fantasy Island, I certainly do, He won’t be at the Northfield High School Play “The Wiz”. But I certainly will, already, snuck in a time or two, the set is great. The actors are coming along, lines learned, and songs practiced, this could be one of the best. And I understand Fractal Groove will be there.

I know I have once again missed Walleyes, we’ll get to it soon, Its actually very important, but for this week, keep the crumbs on the table.
