Adelord William Laprade, 71, Former Marine

WILLIAMSTOWN - Adelord William Laprade, 71, of 4102 Vermont Route 14, Williamstown, passed away on Tuesday, March 16th at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Graniteville, the son of the late Adelord and Lorena (Woodard) Laprade.

Al grew up and attended school in Graniteville. He was a 1957 graduate of Spaulding High School. After high school he served in the U.S. Marines from 1957-1962.

He married Geneva June Byam in 1961. She passed away in 1975. He later married Debra Cadorette Ducharme.

Al worked for the Barre City Fire Department, Capital Candy as a salesman for 15 years and he drove truck for Cooley Asphalt Paving Company and Pike Industries. He finished his working career with Schwan's Frozen Foods.

Al was a devoted father, grandfather and husband, who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Al enjoyed playing the lottery and purchasing scratch off tickets. He was a fan of the New England Patriots and enjoyed watching golf. He also loved to play cards with his friends and family.

Al was a life member of the Canadian Club, where he served in various capacities, and a life member of the VFW Post 790 and the American Legion Post 10.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years Debra Laprade of Williamstown, five children; Ricky Lee Laprade of Newport, William Adelord Laprade of Barre Town, Nicole June Laprade of Barre, Lisa Sue Santamore of Craftsbury, and Brandy Jo Laprade of South Barre, eight grandchildren; Ricky, Randy-Lee and Jeremy Laprade, Riley, Quinlen, Veric and Captolia Santamore, and Kyree Hutchinson. There are two surviving sister; Marie Drury and Rosanna Paquet of Barre. The extended family includes four sisters-in-laws, six brothers-in-laws, one mother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Al was predeceased by one daughter, Robin Ann Laprade, and two brothers, Wilfred and Guy Laprade.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. Burial will be held in the spring at St Sylvester's Cemetery in Lower Websterville.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Pruneau Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer Street, Barre.
