Bake Sale

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS FOR THE SECOND year in a row, Northfield Democrats pitched in and held a bake sale to benefit CERV at town meeting day. Together, we raised a total of $122.44 in nickels, dimes, and quarters and a few generous dollar bills thrown in as well. We also collected non-perishable food items for CERV. I want to thank all Northfielders who made a contribution. And, I extend a special thanks for our town Democrats for organizing this effort and pitching in with their time, effort, and fresh baked goods for making the day a big success.

I brought in the mason jar full of contributions to Northfield Savings Bank for deposit to CERV's account and had the good fortune to meet Carol Seaver-Holt, Financial Secretary of the CERV Advisory Board. She said that CERV has "seen a significant increase in requests for assistance due to the economic environment over the past couple of years. It's wonderful to live in a community where people always generously support their neighbors."

Thanks to all for your continued generosity. We hope to continue this modest effort to support CERV each year. If you would like to get involved with the Northfield Democrats please visit our website at: www.northfielddems.blogspot.com.
