Voters of Northfield & Roxbury
TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS THE BOARD and staff of the Northfield-Roxbury Drug Free Partnership are grateful to the voters of Northfield and Roxbury for appropriating $3,000 from the Town of Northfield and $400 from the Town of Roxbury to support substance abuse prevention for our youth. Thank you!
The Greater Northfield Coalition Council oversees the work of the Drug-Free Partnership. It evolved from work begun 10 years ago following a significant rise in youth vandalism, two alcoholrelated fatalities and the suicides of two ninth grade students. Concerned citizens organized, obtained a Federal Drug Free Communities grant, and today we offer resources, programs and referrals concerning substance abuse and prevention to all Roxbury and Northfield residents.
We counter the challenges our teens face through collaboration with the schools, youth serving organizations, and by being the “hub of the wheel” for prevention and recovery resources. We are the link between Northfield and what’s happening in the prevention field at the Central Vermont, State, and Federal levels.
This week, we are moving our office from the Common to the Gray Building, Room 8. We hope you will visit us. Our phone number is 485-8081.
