AFTER TWO MONTHS of disappointing fare at the movies, Hollywood heats things up starting in May for four months with big budget movies, sizzling sequels and a brighter-thanusual line-up of star power in huge anxiously anticipated “notice me” movies. Here’s a preview of what’s to come:

The A-Team

Another remake of a 80’s TV show. The cast includes Bradley Cooper from last year’s “The Hangover” as Face and “District 9’s” Sharlto Copley as part of the foursome of rogue ex-special operatives. Will Mr. T show up in a cameo?

Knight and Day

Part action, part romance and a lot of Tom Cruise might help get him back into grace with fans. Cruise plays a highly trained secret agent protecting a scientist and wooing Cameron Diaz.

Iron Man 2: Robert Downey, Jr. returns as Tony Stark. the offcenter billionaire playboy-turned-superhero fighting new enemies (Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell), has a new assistant named Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and may commit to his former assistant (Gwyneth Paltrow).

The Prince of Persia

The Sands of Time: Jake Gyllenhaal stars as the Prince who, with a high priestess (Gemma Arterton from “Clash of the Titans”), fights to prevent a magical dagger from getting into the wrong hands. Blockbuster master Jerry Bruckheimer produces.

Sex and the City 2

The girls are back in town and always in fashion in this surprise sequel. Carrie and her gal pals venture to the Middle East but not much more is known as the script is once again top secret the second time around.

Shrek Forever After

Reportedly the final chapter of the epic fairy tale, Shrek (Mike Myers) signs a magical contract to be his old self again for one day. Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy and a studio executive also provide the voices.

And to wrap things up as another award season approaches:

Eat Pray Love

Based on the best-selling novel by Elizabeth Gilbert, Julia Roberts stars as globe-trekking heartbroken divorcĂ©e who searches for serenity and strength, and meets Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men”), Richard Jenkins (“The Visitor”) and James Franco (“Milk”).
