ANNUAL GREEN-UP DAY BOOKSALE: Saturday, May 1st , 9am- 2pm. Once again, we will be holding a book sale at the Roxbury Community Hall in conjunction with Green-Up Day events.

The library will be CLOSED on Saturday, May 1st, so come to the sale for some great books. There will also be yummy baked goods for sale by the Senior Center, and free coffee! If you would like to donate books for the sale, please bring them to the Community Hall/Senior Center on Friday, April 30 between 3 and 6 pm, or call 485-7483 to arrange another time. We ask you not to bring textbooks, magazines, Reader’s Digest condensed books or Harlequin Romances. Thanks!

TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE FOR 2010 THEME RAFFLE BOXES: Another annual fundraiser for the library is happening right now: four great theme boxes will be raffled off at the book sale. Each box contains lots of great things: Green Thumb Gardener (including a $50.00 gift certificate to Frazier’s Greenhouse); Basketball (including two tickets to a Celtics home game in the 2010- 2011 season); Art Supplies Galore; and Specialty Gourmet Foods. Boxes are on display in the Roxbury Country Store if you want to check out all the items! Tickets cost $5.00 each or 5/ $20.00. You can buy tickets for only the box(es) you’re interested in! They are available at the store, the library, or from the following library trustees: Jane Pincus (485-8428), Chris Dorer (485-9428), Shelley Brown (485-8361), Sally Kirn (485-7973), and Danielle Pipher (485- 9299).

WINNIE BELLE LEARNED GRANT PROJECT COMPLETED: Two gorgeous children’s book displays have been built and installed by local woodworker Clarence Baker, thanks to a generous grant from the Winnie Belle Learned Foundation. The grant was funded by Dr. Burnett Rawson and administered by the Vermont Department of Libraries. Pre-school story hour children and Roxbury school children in grades Pre-K – 2 have been visiting the library this week to use them! Fully loaded with colorful picture books, the displays allow children to see the face of each book, so that they can indeed judge a book by its cover, as opposed to just the spine. They are a great addition to the children’s section of the library, and we’re most grateful.
