Vance Santor Smith, 72, of Summer Street, died Monday, April 12 at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin. She was born November 26, 1937 in Grand Isle, the daughter of Claude E. and Stella A. (Blow) Santor.

She is a graduate of Northfield High School, class of 1956. On February 9, 1957 she married Homer Earl Smith at St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield. Mr. Smith died May 9, 1993.

Mrs. Smith was employed for over 30 years in the Northfield School system, many of those years as a secretary in the guidance office.

Mrs. Smith was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield, was a union representative for the Teachers Association, and past member of Barre Tones in Barre. She enjoyed bowling and loved animals.

Surviving are a son, Homer Scott Smith of Tarloc, Philippines, a daughter, Starlene Beattie of Summerfield, IL; 7 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her daughter, Estella Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, April 19 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Northfield.
