Library Reading Program

TO TH EEDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS FIRST I’D LIKE to express my appreciation for all “The Northfield News” does on an ongoing basis to help the Brown Public Library. We rely on the “News” greatly to get the word out to the greater Northfield community about library services and programs.

It was good to see a photo from the library on the front page of the last issue, but I’m afraid the information I sent to the “News” may have been misleading, and I’d like to correct any mistaken impressions. The RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) programs benefit ALL students at the Northfield Elementary School. On each RIF distribution day there is a short program for children in each grade level K-5. All children at the school (including preschoolers) are able to select a book of their choice to take home and keep. During the current school year there have been three RIF days, all generously supported by the Sid and Cecilia Lance Foundation.

Thanks so much,

SUE MACMARTIN Library Director Brown Public Library
