Hilda B. Allen, 88 of Northfield Falls, Vermont, died April 17, 2010 at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born April 28th, 1921 in Bridgewater, Vermont, a daughter of Leonard and Calla M. (Lewis) Bigelow.

She attended school in Bridgewater and Woodstock and trained to be a nurse at Boston City Hospital and Gifford Memorial Hospital in Randolph.

She married W. Paige Allen of Barnard, Vermont on May 24, 1947. She worked at the Mayo Hospital in Northfield and the Ainsworth Infirmary at Norwich University where she eventually became head nurse. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Northfield and contributed her time and services to Red Mitten craft shop.

She is survived by her son, Robert W. Allen of Northfield Falls, and her sister, Lucile Atwood of Bridgewater as well as many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband W. Paige Allen who died in 1949.

A funeral service was held at the United Methodist Church in Northfield on Saturday, April 24 with a burial service afterward at the Barnard Cemetery, Barnard, VT.
