Northfield Police Report

April 14

10:29 a.m. - Burglary - Police responded to a residence in which the caller had reported that the residence had been broken into over the night time hours. Police responded and determined that the complainant who is elderly and the facts provided by the complainant did not constitute a burglary.

2:38 p.m. - Citizen Assist - Police spoke with a subject concerned a possible Abuse Prevention Order Violation. The caller advised that the order was being violated by the exhusband of a female living in Northfield who was driving by the females home and also phone messaging the female. Agreed to go speak with the individual who was making the violation and warn him to stop. Caller advised the female will make a complaint if it does not stop.

4:37 p.m. - ATV Incident - Police spoke with a subject who wished to remain anonymous concerning a young child kicking a dog and riding a youth size ATV without parental supervision. The information concerning the juvenile was limited and police are investigating.

7:01 p.m. - Agency Assistance - Police served a notice against trespass on a Northfield resident for the Montpelier Police Department. The resident is the husband of a female that had been issued notice against trespass for the Shaws Super Market the week before. This notice was stemming from the incident that had occurred in Montpelier the week before.

7:22 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to Dog Wood Glen for a reported suspicious person. The complainant advised that an older male has been hanging out in the area for the last few days. Police located the male, identified him and found out he was down visiting a friend. No further action taken.

April 15

1:31 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - A citizen came to the Northfield Police department to discuss the neighborhood situation. The officer listened and made suggestions on how everyone could get along without name calling and accusations. Nothing further.

2:35 p.m. - Agency Assistance - The department was notified of vandalism that had just happened in Berlin. The officer responded to a resident to see if the defendant returned to the Northfield area. The subject was found prior to his return to Northfield.

2:36 p.m. - Theft - Police responded to a local business who had reported a gas drive off. A plate number was obtained and a sworn written statement concerning the matter. The case is still under investigation.

4:20 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - An officer responded to a residence on Vine St because a door was locked that had been left unlocked. The caller was concerned that a former tenant had a key and had entered the property. The officer made contact from scene with tenant and left message. There was nothing missing and the former tenant did not have a key.

10:55 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Steven J. Partlow, age 33 of Pasadena, Maryland was arrested for disorderly Conduct. Police responded to a complaint of a home invasion on Central Street and the complainant advised that it was Partlow and his brother that entered her residence. Partlow was looking for the complainant's son to settle an issue stemming from an incident at the American Legion. Partlow is schedule to appear in court on 6-10-10 at 12:00 pm.

April 16

8:49 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance – A resident of the Town of Northfield contacted the police department and advised that she was missing her prescription medication. The caller could not provide any details other then they were gone and no entry was gained into the home to take the drugs. The caller was advised to contact her primary care medical doctor concerning the matter should she need medication.

9:19 a.m. - Agency Assistance - Police conducted a follow up investigation concerning information received from an out of state law enforcement agency concerning a subject who is a fugitive from justice and living in Northfield. Police were able to confirm the information on the subjects whereabouts in Northfield. The investigation is continuing and an arrest should be forthcoming.

April 17

12:10 p.m. - Accident PD - Police received a report of a late reported collision on VT RT 12A. Police met with the complainant at the Police Department who reported that he had rear-ended a vehicle at the VT RT 12A-VT RT 12S intersection. The only damage was to the complainant's vehicle, and not the other vehicle. Police filed a report for the complainant so he could file with his insurance agency.

3:28 p.m. - Juvenile Problem - Police responded to Pearl Street for a report of a juvenile problem. Police were told that juveniles were shooting an airsoft rifle across the road and at a parked vehicle. Police responded and located the juveniles. Police cautioned that vandalism charges could be brought if there were damages, and encouraged them not to shoot across the roadway. There were no reported damages.

7:44 p.m. - MV Complaint - Police responded to Norwich University to assist a motorist who had damaged the rim of their vehicle after hitting a pothole. The officer documented the incident and stood by until the tire and rim were changed.

April 18

12:13 a.m. – Noise - Police responded to a residence on Elm Street for a noise violation. Upon arrival, the officer heard loud music coming from the residence. The officer made contact with the two tenants and advised them of

the complaint. Both tenants advised they would keep the noise down. Written warnings were issued to the tenants.

10:33 a.m. - Citizen Assist - Police assisted a citizen with a trespassing complainant at Dogwood Glen. At the time, there were no criminal violations occurring, so no Police action could be taken. Police referred the caller to the VT State Housing Authority for further action, and for the possibility of a trespass notice being issued.

11:21 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to a residence on Pleasant Street for a report of several subjects inside the residence without permission.

Upon arrival, the officer found no one inside the residence and no evidence that anyone had been inside the residence. The elderly complainant was advised of the officers findings.

April 19

10:50 a.m. - Agency Assistance - Police received a request to assist the State Attorney's Office in Florida. Police received a request to fingerprint a Northfield resident in connection with a pending court case. Police took the fingerprints as requested.

11:28 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to Pleasant Street for a report of suspicious activity. Police responded and met with the complainant, but did not observe anything unusual at the time. Police will be monitoring the area for anything suspicious.

11:44 a.m. - Animal Problem - Police received a report of an animal problem. A young canine was brought to the Police Department on Wall Street, after it was found loose. The canine had no tags, but it was believed to belong to a Pleasant Street resident. Attempts to locate the owner were fruitless. The canine was turned over to the animal control officer for boarding at the kennel until the canine could be claimed.

2:14 p.m. - Theft - An officer responded to a North Main Street business who reported garbage had been deposited in their receptacle which was not business generated. The complainant provided pieces of mail indicating the original owner of the garbage. The officer spoke with the offending party and warned them about theft of services for using services they were not paying for. She will also remove the trash and dispose of it properly.

6:18 p.m. - Unlawful Mischief - A citizen of Northfield responded to the police department regarding a vandalism complaint. Complainant advised that someone had vandalized her vehicle and needed a report filed for insurance purposes. The officer took the report and provided the complainant with a case number for her insurance claim.
