Harold Arthur Carpenter

WILLIAMSTOWN - The Service of Remembrance for Harold Arthur Carpenter, of Garden Street, was held Sunday, April 25, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Williamstown United Federated Church. He died April 20, 2010, at the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin.

The Rev. Deborah LaPorte, pastor of the church, led the service. Organist Stephen Morse accompanied the congregation in the hymns "A Song of Peace" and "Here I am Lord" as well as the song "You are My Sunshine."

The Scripture lessons were read by granddaughter, Christine Carpenter, grandson, Justin King, great granddaughter, Mackenzie Carpenter and nephew, Russell Carpenter. Son-in-law Robert King delivered the eulogy and words of remembrance were offered by several members of the congregation. A special poem, "The Farmer" was read by his son H. Alan Carpenter. Fellowship and refreshments followed in the church dining room under the direction of the church women.

The Graveside service preceded in the Orange Center Cemetery where Rev. LaPorte read the committal prayers. The flag was presented to his son Alan by Bruce W. Judd.

The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre was in charge of the arrangements
