Photo by Bill Croney, The Northfield News Both Williamstown spring sports turned in split performances in their respective two game schedules last week.

The Softball team and the Baseball team each dropped a game at South Royalton last Thursday. The Girl’s fell by a 15-2 score to the Royals while the Boy’s baseball team lost their game at SoRo by a 7-4 count.

Coach Jared Hart came away from the South Royalton game thinking that even though they lost to last year’s defending Div IV state champs things were looking up.

“It seemed as if our attitude was improving and the momentum is beginning to turn around. We played well and if we keep it up we can be competitors,” the Blue Devil baseball coach said.

Williamstown's Kristin Brown, shown here scoring a run against Twinfield last Monday, had a big week for the Lady Devils. The Baseball Boy’s rolled over the Chargers 12-4 and the Softball Girl’s picked up their first win of the season as they pounded out 26 hits to blast Craftsbury 19- 8. Kristin Brown went 4 for 5 to lead the Blue Devil hit parade and Heather Gonier threw six strong innings for the Williamstown Cause. “It was really great to get that first win of the season,” said softball coach Hannah Bonneau.

This week both the Baseball & Softball teams will make the long trip to Cannan for 11 a.m. games on Saturday.
