Hannah Blackmer, 2008 Northfield High School Graduate, was recently named to The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Team for 2010. The NEWMAC consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 after the 2009 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Hannah was recognized for her achievement in the sport of crew as well as her achievement in the classroom. Hannah received the NEWMAC All Conference Novice award in 2009.

Hannah attends Mount Holyoke College and is studying for a degree in Environmental Studies where she has earned placement on the Deans List. Hannah is also a member of the Mount Holyoke Glee Club, Vocal and Chamber Jazz Ensembles, and the Mount Holyoke Orchestra.

Hannah will be studying at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark for her fall semester.
