The Softball Lady Devil’s won one game and dropped two last week. On Tuesday the Girl’s of the Blue & White fell to Concord 17-3, and on Thursday South Royalton defeated the Lady Devils 7-4. On Saturday Williamstown bounced back and knocked off Craftsbury 9-7 to pick up their second win of the season.
When Concord came to town they brought their whole game with them. The Wildcats bats were working overtime scoring runs in five of the game’s seven innings. And their pitching held Williamstown to just one hit.
Concord really got all they would need in the first inning as they jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead and never had to look back. The Lady Devils got all four of their runs in the third on a series of walks and Kristin Brown’s hit but those runs only closed the game to 8-4 and that was as close as the Blue & White Girl’s would get on this afternoon.
Concord pushed across six runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh to pull away to a 17- 3 road victory.
On Thursday South Royalton came to town and when they headed home they had recorded a 7-4 win. The Royals built up a 7-0 lead by the third inning but the Lady Devil’s fought back with four runs in the bottom of the third to close to 7-4. They would get no closed. The pitching on both sides settled down and it was scoreless the rest of the way.
On Saturday, playing their third home game of the week, the Lady Devils broke into the win column for the second time this season. A six run third inning keyed by Kristin Brown’s double and five more hits gave Williamstown an early cushion. They added two more in the fourth inning and capped their scoring with a single tally in the sixth. Heather Gonier pitched six strong innings and Jessica Anderson came on for final three innings of the Lady Devil’s 9-7 win.
The Ladies of the Blue & White will host Rochester in an 11:00 a.m. contest this Saturday.
