Marauder Girls Drop Pair To Very Tough Opponents
The Lady Marauders Softball team dropped a pair of games last week to a pair of very tough opponents. On Thursday at the Falls Field the Maroon & White Girls ran up against a very hot pitcher and some strong bats as they fell to Oxbow by a 10-6 count and on Saturday at Lamoille they fell to the powerful Lancers 9-4.
Against Oxbow the Lady Marauders just couldn't catch up wit the pitching of the Olympian's Cassandra Wallace who went the distance and struck out 11 Northfield batters.
Kaitlyn McMullen went two for three for the Lady Marauders and Kristi Luce added a double for Northfield.
On Saturday it was more of the same as Northfield traveled north to take on the always tough Lamoille Lancers. Lamoille only has a 7-6 record but they play a tough level of competition and when they take on a DIV III opponent such as Northfield that level of competition shows.
The bright spot for the Lady Marauders was the hotting of the McMullen sisters. Senior Kaytlin had two hits and two RBI while freshman sister Mehgan
The Lady Marauders will close out the season this Thursday (May, 27) when they travel to East Montpelier to take on U-32 in a 4:30 p.m. game.
