Danger To Animals

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS IAM WRITING with concern for the safety of the people and animals that live along Route 12 in Northfield Falls. It seems that several motorists a day and many more during the night think it is an opportune stretch of the road to rev their engines and see how fast their vehicles can go. I’m not referring to your average speeding of five or ten miles above what is posted. I often see and hear cars whizzing by at speeds only appropriate to highway driving.

I have lived on this road for almost my entire life, but I am choosing to write this letter now because the problem seems to be getting worse, to the point of being out of control. The other day, I even witnessed a light blue Audi pass two cars that apparently were going too slow for the driver’s taste. This happened right in front of my house, on a stretch of road that is marked with double yellow lines and a 35mph speed limit.

Route 12 is not a highway. It is a residential street that bisects a neighborhood of tightly packed homes with a high degree of pedestrian traffic. When you are driving through our neighborhood, please obey the posted speed limit. I know that living on a busy road comes with some added dangers but I believe that everyone deserves to feel safe in our neighborhood.

I completely agree! Well

I completely agree! Well said, I think you have spoken for all of us living along that stretch that are fed up with the utter disrespect and dimwitted actions of the individuals responsible for this. There is no doubt in my mind that the "light blue Audi" you speak of is none other than Matthew Miles. Now it's my turn to speak for all of us and say, Grow Up!
