Annual Butterfly Count
Montpelier – Bring the whole family to participate in our annual butterfly count. No experience necessary, just a love of butterflies, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., $5 adults, free for kids, North Branch Nature Center, 713 Elm Street, 229-6206.

11th ANNUAL BUTTERFLY COUNT
Montpelier - Join us for the annual Central Vermont Butterfly Count! Spend the day identifying and counting all the butterfly species at NBNC and beyond. Start and end times are flexible. All are welcome (kids too)! Fee: $5 adults, free for kids, North Branch Nature Center, 713 Elm Street, 229-6206.

Fabulous Fern Walk
Montpelier - Our woods are full of ferns throughout the summer though they're sometimes hard to tell apart. Join us for a woodland walk with former botany professor Murray Evans for a chance to learn more about ferns. This will be a leisurely walk to explore a variety of species in the fields and woods around NBNC, $10 members, $12 nonmembers, $5 children, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., North Branch Nature Center, 713 Elm Street, 229-6206.

YOUTH BIRDING PROGRAM: Mountaintop Birding at Mt. Mansfield
Montpelier - Witness the change in birds and plants with as we ascend Mt. Mansfield. After driving to the top, we’ll explore the alpine tundra, breathtaking views, and high-elevation specialists like Swainson’s Thrush, Bicknell’s Thrush, and Blackpoll Warbler. Bring $5 for the toll road and a bag lunch, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., meeting at North Branch Nature Center, 713 Elm Street, 229-6206.

Bug Walk!
Montpelier - Grab a net and come join us for a walk filled with tiny discoveries. We’ll search for dragonflies, butterflies and other flying, hopping six-legged creatures, $5 per family, $3 per individual, 3:30 - 5:00 p.m., North Branch Nature Center, 713 Elm Street, 229-6206.
