Lt. Col. William E. Barton, 82, Norwich Grad
He was born in Newark and lived along the Jersey Shore prior to moving to Ft. Myers. He was a proud American who honorably served his country in the US Army for 24 years. After his retirement from military service, he enjoyed a career as a Procurement Analyst for Ft. Monmouth from where he retired.
Bill received his MBA from Monmouth University and a BS in Chemistry from Norwich University. He was a member of F & AM Two Bridges, Mt. Mariah Lodge #824. He was also a member of Navesink Lodge #9 of Free and Accepted Masons, and was also a Soujourner in Masonry. He was past president of the Central NJ Chapter of MOA (formerly TROA) and past Treasurer of the State Council of MOA (TROA) chapters and a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Rotary Club of Piscataway.
Mr. Barton is predeceased by his loving wife Dolores Johnson Barton who passed in 2001 and parents Everett and Julianna (Schaefer) Barton. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered for being an extraordinary father, grandfather and friend to his sons: William E and wife Karen of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; Robert H. and wife Andrea of Adelphia, NJ; Grandchildren: Spencer, Pamela, and Kelsey Barton and dear friend Norma Johnson.
A Masonic service was held at the John E. Day Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Brigadier General William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
