Photo by Rob Wills, The Northfield News In the News last week, readers were asked to find tickets and if they did, they were eligible to win tickets to the Monster Truck Show at the Champlain Valley Exposition on August 8.

The tickets were located just above Phyllis Greenway’s cooking article in the paper.

A large number of readers entered the contest and William Whitney of Northfield won first prize, winning four tickets to the Monster Truck Show.

“It’s just the number I needed,” Mr. Whitney said as he came into the news office to claim his prize.

Second place went to Alice Nichols of Williamstown who wn three tickets to the event. Luckily for Alice, three tickets was exactly the number she needed as well.

Third place went to Dan Paquette of Northfield who won two tickets and fourth place went to Elizabeth Hoar, who also won two tickets.

Fans had a chance to get up close to the monsters and their drivers at a special free autograph pit party held 90 minutes prior to each performance with passes available for all ticket holders at Bond Auto Parts locations.

Creating high-flying thrills during the performances was the Freestyle Insanity Moto X team. These daredevil motorcycle stunt riders specialized in incredible tricks performed during jumps taking them three to four stories in the air.

Acting as emcee and starring in his own laugh-filled routines was “Porkchop” the Motorsports Clown, a veteran of hundreds of Monster Truck shows throughout America.

Once the pros finished their routines on the specially-created obstacle course in front of the Champlain Valley Exposition grandstand, the whole family was invited to experience the thrill of a Monster Truck ride for themselves aboard “Sergeant Smash”, America’s premier Monster Ride Truck.
