Northfield Ladies Tow Down
Five local women competed in the Downtown Tow Down that took place In Barre last Saturday morning. This event was part of the annual Barre Heritage Festival. Ladies pulling listed from left to right are: Kelly Driscoll-Smith, Lisa Mitchell Page, Liz Wuorinen, Lisa Dilena and Shannon Doney. The main idea is that you attempt to pull a Bellevance Truck 50 ft in the least amount of time. There were 10 teams that participated. Of those 10 teams, two were comprised of all women. The rules were fairly straightforward, you would be allowed to deduct 1 second from your time for each woman on your team (BUT, the maximum deduction is 3 seconds). You also had the opportunity for a 2nd pull if you chose to do so. Our team was fairly confident that our lead of 3 seconds would hold so our strategy was NOT to pull a second time. The other women’s team pulled again, but were unable to beat our time. We pulled the truck in 20.xx seconds said Shannon Doney. The other women’s team pulled the truck in 23.xx seconds.
