New Show Of WW II AP Photos at Sullivan
A traveling exhibit of pictures taken during World War II by members of the Associated Press are currently on exhibit in the Rotunda of the Sullivan Museum until October 17, 2010. The photos that have been selected for the exhibit connect with the experiences of NU Alumni who served during World War II. Many of these images are included in the book, Memories of World War II.
The Associated Press is the main source for gathering news. It has over 15,000 news outlets in over 120 nations. It was founded in 1848 and is the backbone of information gathering for newspapers and radio and television broadcasters. Staff journalists use the material to write articles to be used by the agency’s 1,700 newspaper subscribers. It maintains a large photograph library of over 10 million images.
This exhibit shows photos of The War at Home, in the Pacific Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and in Western Europe. It is part of Norwich University’s salute to the surviving World War II Alumni. A second exhibit, The Role of Rememberance: Norwich University and World War II will open on September 20, 2010. The Museum is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. and for special event weekends.
