Roxbury is on the move toward energy efficiency for the town and its residents, with the recently formed Roxbury Energy Committee. The committee consists of Mike Feiner, Carlos Montero, Shawn Neun and Susan D'Amico, who were appointed by the Selectboard and volunteer their time. The committee has had several meetings since its formation last spring to promote ideas about weatherization, conservation of resources, and helping educate Roxbury's citizens about these topics.
The committee's first act toward energy efficiency in town buildings was helping to get a no-cost energy audit, which was completed on four town buildings on August 31. The Town Clerk's Office, the Community Hall/Senior Center, the Town Garage and the Roxbury Free Library were the focus of a rigorous energy inspection conducted by certified contractors hired by the Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission (CVRPC). The Commission has been able to fund energy audits of municipal buildings in Vermont after receiving economic stimulus money to help towns implement energy efficiency measures. According to the CVRPC, "the purpose of an energy audit is to identify and prioritize energy efficiency measures based upon effectiveness and cost-benefits analysis. The findings of the energy audit will be presented by the contractor at a future Select-
