Historical Society To Hold Preparedness Seminar
The Williamstown Historical Society will be holding a seminar followed by a potluck dinner on Tuesday, September 14.
The program is part of National Preparedness Month and will feature how to be prepared in the event of an emergency.
Art conservators Rachel Penniman and Laura Brill will discuss and demonstrate hands-on salvage and safe recovery of wet materials such as paper, textiles and ceramics after a flood. Their discussion will also touch on the developing disaster plan for the historical society and how to make it effective.
The society is seeking the input from community members and discussion of what role would be played in the event of an emergency hitting the society’s collection.
The discussion will begin at 4 p.m. followed by the hands-on wet salvage demonstration at 4:30 p.m. and a potluck dinner starting at 5:30 p.m.
