Police Report

October 13

2:46 p.m. - Citizen Assist - A citizen came to the department seeking assistance. The citizen was concerned that a friend of a previous relationship may be coming to Northfield to cause trouble. The citizen was given advise on how to seek a restraining order and advised to call if the person did arrive and was disturbing the peace.

3:52 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance – A citizen of Bailey Road reported suspicious circumstances at her residence. The officer responded and helped her determine what had happened to her window. It was determined nothing was stolen or missing.

5:20 p.m. - Custodial Dispute - A parent contacted the department regarding visitation concerns. The officer advised the caller that Family Court would assist with visitation schedules and also violations of a schedule once it is created.

6:07 p.m. - Accident PD - The department responded to a report of a vehicle crash on Vine Street. The operator of the vehicle was not injured and had hit a telephone pole after being blinded by the rising sun.

October 14

3:18 p.m. - Accident PI - Officers responded to North Main Street for a report of a pedestrian hit by a motor vehicle. The officers responded to scene, but everyone involved had left. The operator of the vehicle came to the department after trying to locate the juvenile that had continued to run on the street. The juvenile did have minor injuries.

7:17 p.m. - Traffic Hazard - Officers were contacted about a traffic hazard on Route 12 in Northfield Falls. The complainant advised that she hit a piece of metal in the roadway and was not sure if it damaged her vehicle but just wanted to make us aware of it. Officers checked the area and the debris was gone.

7:38 p.m. - Accident PD - Officers responded to a minor motor vehicle crash in the parking lot of Bean's Chevrolet. On arrival, a vehicle had backed into a parked vehicle causing minor front end damage. Parties were advised to swap information and an officers report was completed. The operator of the vehicle received a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for having no liability insurance.

9:01 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police were notified of a male lurking outside a window of a residence on Crescent Avenue. A female arrived home and saw him standing outside, and when confronted, the male walked away. Police are investigating.

October 15

9:28 a.m. - Custodial Interference - A parent contacted the department concerning custodial interference. The parent was from out of state and had a Chittenden Family court order in hand regarding custody and visitation. The officer assisted with location of the other parent and child. The custody of the child was transferred to the visiting parent for the scheduled visit.

10:44 a.m. - MV Complaint - A concerned citizen reported that they had witnessed a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle while crossing North Main Street. The officer contacted the pedestrian later in the day to verify the incident. The operator of the vehicle was also contacted. The victim advised no injury.

11:24 a.m. - Theft - An officer responded to South Village Mobil in reference to a larceny from a wallet. The owner of the wallet had left the wallet in the restroom and continued her journey. Later in the day the wallet had been returned to the owner minus the $200 cash. The video from South Village was reviewed and suspects are being identified. Under investigation.

October 16

3:33 a.m. - DUI - Police arrested Christina N. Dickinson, age 19, of Roxbury, Vermont for Driving while Under the Influence; and Jonathan R. Stone, age 20, of Northfield, Vermont for Criminal Possession of Malt Beverage by a minor.

1:37 p.m. - Parking Problem - While on routine patrol, I discovered two blatant parking violations on Central Street in front of Plumley Armory. I found two vehicles parked in front of Plumley Armory so that it obstructed traffic to such a degree that the road became limited to one lane of travel.

October 17

1:55 a.m. - Citizen Dispute - Officers were contacted by Norwich University about a citizen dispute. Officers were able to calm the situation down and provided information to the parties.

4:45 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer was contacted by Randolph Police regarding a credit card that had been lost in Randolph and was subsequently used to make fraudulent purchases in Randolph and Northfield. The businesses in town were contacted and the video surveillance was reviewed. Randolph Police advised that the offender has been identified and charges will be pending.

6 p.m. - Assault - A citizen of Union Brook came to the department to advise new developments in an ongoing situation. The officer took the report and is attempting to resolve the situation with all parties involved.

7:46 p.m. - Intoxicated Person - Phillip Amell age 31 of Northfield was arrested for violating his conditions of release. Police were summoned to the area of the Convenience Plus store for the report of an intoxicated male. While the officer was checking the area, the complainant called back to advise the male was laying down near the picnic tables. Upon locating Phillip, he was taken into protective custody, due to his level of toxicity.

October 18

12:59 a.m. - Agency Assistance - While in route to the Barre City Police Department with a subject in protective custody, I arrived at Central Vermont Hospital to pick up a person there, who was also in the protective custody of the Barre Police Department.

11:49 a.m. - Animal Problem - A complaint was received about two dogs running lose at N.U. near Parking Lot B at Disney Field. The dogs were reportedly in custody with N.U. Security, and were described as being a Pitbull and a Labrador. Animal Control was contacted and they took custody of the dogs, pending identification of the owners.

3:40 p.m. - Citizen Assist - A citizen of Northfield contacted the department regarding threatening phone calls and text messages. The receiver of the calls and messages is attending school in another state. The officer discussed options with the complainant.

4:47 p.m. - Citizen Assist - A citizen of Pleasant Street came to the department to discuss the options of a shared apartment. The officer advised her that her concerns are civil and she would need to speak with an attorney for legal advise.

7:05 p.m. - Agency Assistance - I was dispatched to the report of an injured deer on Vermont Route 12A near house number 1033. Upon my arrival I located the injured deer, which was euthanized.

October 19

2:05 p.m. - Unlawful Mischief - The Chief of Norwich Security requested an officer meet with him at the Norwich cemetery on Dole Hill. He had received a call regarding vandalism to stones and wanted an officer to observe the damage. The officer responded, took pictures and has begun an investigation.

3:13 p.m. - Lost Property - A caller advise she was missing a bracelet. Last time she wore it was in the Depot Square area. If anyone has found a bracelet with engraving please contact the Northfield Police - 485-9181.

3:15 p.m. - MV Complaint - An officer responded to the Falls Mobile Home park for a report of a juvenile driving a motor vehicle up and down the street. The caller advised that the young operator was not licensed. The officer did locate the vehicle in question and then found the reported operator. The juvenile was informed of proper procedures for operation, after he acquires a license.

4:10 p.m. - Citizen Assist - An officer talked with a resident of Stowe that had purchased a vehicle from a citizen of Northfield. Since the transaction, the caller had difficulties with the registration and the proof of ownership. The vehicle had been impounded in Waterbury and the previous owner had now taken possession of the vehicle. Options were discussed.

7:25 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - A plaintiff of an abuse prevention order came to the police department to report a violation of the order. The officer took the report and then filed an additional charge for the offenders court hearing on the following day.
