Family to Walk in Memory of Beverly Ritzer

In April of 2009, our family’s hearts were shattered by the sudden loss of our mother and grandmother, Beverly Ritzer. Today, we continue to live in her light and keep her alive more than ever through the laughs and smiles that come from telling stories and memories. Her heart was too big for words to ever be capable of describing, and those who were fortunate enough to meet her and spend time with her were certainly blessed and touched by her presence.

Sadly, we were not able to give back to Grandma Bev the way we would have liked to while she was physically still here with us. So, as a small way of giving back, even though we know we could never measure up to all that she gave and did for us, our family is taking part in our second Heart Walk as the team, Footsteps for Bev. Last year, we raised over $3000 to increase awareness of heart complications, which claimed the life of Grandma Bev. We were ecstatic to have our entire family come together and walk in our mother and grandmother’s memory, and look forward to doing it again this year.

This year, our family will be walking on Friday, June 10, 2011. If you are interested in donating to our team, you may send checks or cash to Kathy Yacavoni at 544 Bull Run Road, Northfield. Checks can be made out to the American Heart Association. You can also make a donation online at www.startheartwalk.org. On the webpage, search the Vermont event and then click “Find a Team” to submit a donation to Footsteps for Bev.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the support we have received in helping to keep our mother and grandmother, Bev’s, spirit alive.
