Police Report

November 23

8:04 a.m. - Accident PD - An officer was dispatched to multiple vehicles off the roadway. State dispatch however, notified the officer that the location was Dole Hill, when in fact it was Route 64, formerly known as Mill Hill. There were no vehicles off the road on Dole Hill.

8:29 p.m. - MV Complaint - An officer was dispatched to multiple complaints of vehicles off the roadway on Route 64 due to snow covered roads. There were no crashes or injuries, vehicles were either stuck in snow banks or could not get up the roadway. A tractor trailer was also stuck on Route 12. Wreckers and state plows were contacted to assist clearing the road. Nothing further.

11:05 a.m. - MV Complaint - While on patrol an officer discovered two vehicles off the road on Winch Hill Road, one stuck in a ditch on the bottom, the other partially over an embankment a quarter mile up. Both had slid off do to snow covered roads. A wrecker was contacted to pull both back onto the road. Nothing further needed.

7:29 p.m. - Juvenile Problem - An officer was contacted about a potential problem occurring at school between a group of juveniles. Since no crime has been committed and it occurred on school grounds the incident is being referred to them.

9:31 p.m. - MV Complaint - An officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on North Main Street, during which time he detected an odor of Marijuana. The owner consented to a search of his vehicle. During the search the officer located several pieces of paraphernalia. The items were confiscated and due to lack of actual drugs the operator was let go with corrective counseling.

November 24

9:16 p.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Police were dispatched to a residence in town for a reported dispute between a male and female. Upon arrival, the female owner of the residence had left. When called, she would only say that she wanted the intoxicated male out of her residence. Because he had no where else to say, he was taken to the Lighthouse in Berlin for the evening. The female would not meet with police or give any further statement.

November 25

11:56 a.m. - Agency Assistance - In this matter, police were advised of a alarm going off. Police responded and found that the fire alarm system was in Trouble mode. Fire department contacted and responded to took care of the matter. Closed

7:40 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - A resident flagged down an officer and claimed she had been assaulted by her cousin. Four witnesses disputed her claim, however, and the alleged victim never completed a statement nor came back to the PD as requested by the officer. Nothing further needed.

7:53 p.m. - Agency Assistance – An officer observed a vehicle that was the subject of a BOL for Berlin Police. I executed a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle and notified Berlin Police. The subject was interviewed and the information was passed on to the Berlin Police Department.

November 26

12:46 a.m. - Property Damage, Non Vandalism - Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle complaint in the Falls. A vehicle was driving around the ball field and surrounding areas, doing donuts in the snow. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived. Patrols will be stepped up in the area.

9:07 p.m. - MV Complaint Police arrested Don M. Edson Jr.,age 29, of Northfield, Vermont for Driving Under the Influence #4, Driving License Suspended and False Information to a Police Officer.

7:53 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance – An officer responded to meet with a complainant. The residence had been unlawfully entered and there had been an attempt to steal items from the home. Under investigation.

November 27

5:53 p.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Officers responded to a residence for the report of a family fight. Officers spoke with both parties. One of the parties was taken into protective custody, due to heavy intoxication, causing him to be incapacitated. He was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center where he met with Washington County Mental Health counselors. He was then brought to the Lighthouse facility for an over night stay until sober.

November 28

12:17 p.m. - Sex Offender Registry - David Pecor was taken into custody for failure to register with the Sex Offender Registry.

2:18 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - A call was received via VSPMiddlesex about a citizen dispute. It was relayed to VSP that a group of people were engaged in a verbal altercation. No other information was available, nor did the caller identify themselves or leave a callback number. I responded, but did not find such a complaint. A check of the entire area did not yield any signs or indicators of a citizen dispute.

9:15 p.m.- Agency Assistance - An officer responded to the report of a structure fire located at 1710 Vermont Route 12 in Berlin. Upon my arrival I ascertained that the occupants were all out of the building. I then assisted with traffic control and other various duties.

November 29

8:10 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - In this matter a vacant home due to damage from the hurricane was entered via a window on the first floor. Once inside, subject(s) removed copper pipes from the basement and left them behind on the grass outside near the point of entry.

10:28 a.m. – Theft - In this matter, copper pipes that have been recovered from the damage done by the hurricane had been removed from the basement of the residence that has been vacant.

1:38 p.m. - Litter/Pollution/Public Health -

In this matter police were contacted concerning private household trash that had been dumped in a dumpster in a secluded location.

3:40 p.m. - Sex Offense - In this matter, police will assist DCF with a intake that involves a sex crime with a juvenile victim.

4:20 p.m. - Burglary - The department was advised of a home that had been unlawfully entered and items were reported missing. Under investigation.

4:47 p.m. - Unsecure Premise - Chief Outten and an officer responded for a report of an unsecured premises. We were advised that the windows and door to the residence were observed to be open. A check of the building showed that it was clear of any occupants. Nothing suspicious or unusual was observed. The front door of the residence was secured upon our departure. No windows were found to be open.

9:40 p.m. - Theft - An officer received a report of medication being stolen from residence in Northfield Falls. Information was taken about the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department.
