THE NEWS is performing a public service by devoting space to the management issues facing the town of Northfield. But I must correct my length of prior service on the selectboard as it appeared in the front page story in the Jan. 19 issue. That service amounted to 7 and 1/2 years, not the 11 years reported.

I joint the News in requesting readers with views on both sides of the merger and charter questions to express themselves in letters to the editor. We are debating the future direction of our community. Please submit your views to the News.
