January 11

9:06 a.m. - Accident PD - An officer responded to a report of a one car crash involving a telephone pole. The Northfield Ambulance and Fire departments also responded. There was no transport. The vehicle was taken from the scene by North Main Service. The power company was advised of the situation so they could check the pole for damages.

2:57 p.m. - Theft - An officer responded to a gas station for a report of a theft. They called to advise that an individual had failed to pay for $7.15 of gas. By the description of the individual and the known circumstances of the evening, the subject was identified. I will attempt to locate the subject for reimbursement of the gas taken.

5:26 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer responded to assist the Northfield Ambulance Service (NAS). NAS had responded to the residence for a medical emergency, but no one was answering the door when summoned. Upon arrival, I found that NAS personnel had already made entry and my services were no longer required.

January 12

9:06 a.m. - Accident PD - The operator of a vehicle that had been damaged on the previous day came to the police station to make a report. His vehicle was parked in a private driveway when a delivery truck hit the vehicle. He was on his way to get an estimate and took the report forms.

12:45 p.m. - Accident PD - While on patrol, the cruiser I was operating was struck by the vehicle following me. Vermont State Police were contacted to complete a crash report. There were no injuries and minor damage.

2:59 p.m. - MV Complaint - The department took a report of a vehicle that had slid off the roadway. The officer responded and stood by while North Main Service pulled the vehicle back onto the roadway. The road was icy and snow covered. No injuries nor damage.

3:25 p.m. - MV Complaint - Officers were notified about a vehicle over an embankment on Route 12 A just north of Little Northfield Road. An officer stood by while the property owner cleared a path for the vehicle to drive into a field and back into the roadway. The property owner was thanked for his assistance. Nothing further.

3:56 p.m. - Parking Problem - Town highway staff alerted an officer about a vehicle parked after hours in the library parking lot, preventing the removal of snow. The officer contacted the owner of the vehicle, and informed him about after hours parking. He willingly moved the vehicle. Nothing further.

January 13

8:06 a.m. - Animal Problem - An animal problem was reported. The complainant called to report that a canine had been barking since 02:00, and had been out since 22:00 on 1-12-12. I talked with the caller who stated that the incident had been resolved shortly after she called because someone had come to take care of the dog. She also stated that the dog had been barking all night. I told her to call when happening and encouraged her to call at any time of day.

11 a.m. - Theft - The complainant contacted the department regarding a package that he believed had been stolen from his residence. The delivery company advised the package had been left, but the complainant was unable to locate it. The complainant called a few days later to advise they had located the package at a different address.

5:17 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer was asked to check on a report of a vehicle driving on I-89 with no headlights. No troopers were available due to other calls due to the weather. Dispatch advised that prior to the officers arrival, the vehicle finally turned its lights on.

6:07 p.m. - Accident PD - Police arrested James L. Boyce,age 39, of Northfield, Vermont for Driving under the Influence, second offense. An officer was notified of a minor two vehicle crash on Depot Square with no injuries. While investigating the crash it was determined that Boyce was under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content over two times the legal limit.

8:23 p.m. - MV Complaint - The department received calls regarding vehicles have difficulty traveling on VT RT 64. Vermont AOT was advised.

January 14

1:09 a.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer assisted the Northfield Ambulance with a lift assist at the Mayo Manor at 610 Water Street.

2:24 a.m. - Vehicle towed - An officer contacted North Main Service and had a vehicle towed from East Street in the area of the Knotty Shamrock per the winter parking ban. The roads were snow covered and the highway dept. was coming in at 0400 hours.

4:09 a.m. - Assault - Police were dispatched to a reported assault in the village. Officers arrived and found several highly intoxicated individuals, with one claiming he had been assaulted. The other parties stated that they had attempted to give him a place to sleep, and he became disruptive, and fell down the stairs before breaking several windows, along with furniture. Under investigation.

9:02 a.m. - Theft - An officer took a report of a theft. The caller advised his tools were taken from his truck and have not been returned. The officer contacted a third party and was advised there had been a miscommunication and all would be resolved.

1:06 p.m. - Accident PD - The department was advised of a vehicle that was obstructing part of the road. The vehicle was stuck and needed a wrecker. Made contact with the operator, called a wrecker, prior to arrival of wrecker a passerby pulled the vehicle back onto the roadway.

8:14 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - An officer received a phone call from a subject regarding questions and concerns about an expartner. He also requested frequent patrols in the area.

9:38 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer responded to Berlin to assist the Berlin Officer for the report of a juvenile female who was attempting to commit suicide and had wrapped a scarf around her neck tightly. Upon my arrival, other Berlin Officers arrived moments later. I assisted at the scene for a few minutes.

January 15

3:29 a.m. - MV Complaint - While on patrol an officer came across a truck in the ditch on King Street. The owner was contacted and advised their child had the vehicle. The youth was contacted and advised they believed the vehicle would be ok until the morning. They were informed that in the future should something like this occur to contact the police department and make them aware of the situation.

9:51 a.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer assisted with traffic control while the Fire Department was attending to a fire on Central Street. Service rendered

6:59 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer responded to Kreitzberg Arena to assist the Northfield Ambulance service. I heard the ambulance crew request additional manpower over the radio.

9:30 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance – An officer observed a car parked in a parking lot of a closed business. I saw a male sitting in the driver’s seat. I stopped to check the registration and spoke with the operator. I recognized the operator and knew he was on furlough. After speaking with his FSU officer I gave him the message to report in the morning to the probation office. The subject knew he was in violation of his curfew. He left the parking lot.

January 16

8:59 a.m. - Citizen Dispute - The complainant called to speak with an officer. The previous evening there had been a family dispute and the complainant had left the residence. They were now asking for assistance to return to retrieve their property. A little bit later the complainant called to advise that the situation had been resolved and they were all set.

12:36 p.m. - MV Complaint - The department was contacted regarding a snowmachine that was being ridden on a public highway. The officer was unable to respond immediately. At the time the officer drove through the area he could see snowmachine tracks off the road but was unable to determine where the snowmachine was so he could speak with the operator.

2:41 p.m. - MV Complaint - In this matter the police were requested to respond to the parking lot at the Grand Union for a vehicle that backed into another vehicle. No injuries or fluids leaking.
