Scrag Mountain Music Returns For Series Of Concerts

Photo courtesy Scrag Mountain Declassified Scrag Mountain Music artistic directors Mary Bonhag, soprano and Evan Premo, double bass will be joined by members of “The Declassified” a New York based chamber ensemble devoted to total audience engagement, innovative programs, and the highest level of artistry. Concerts will be held in Northfield, Montpelier, and Warren.
Scrag Mountain Music fans will remember Owen Dalby (violin) and Meena Bhasin (viola) from last April and cellist Claire Bryant will her first Scrag Mountain Music appearance.

These programs includes a string trio by Franz Schubert, a quartet by Russian romantic composer Anton Arensky and songs by Brittish baroque composer John Dowland and contemporary American composers Osvaldo Golijov and Harold Meltzer.
Admission is by donation: As always Scrag Mountain Music presents these concerts as “Come as you are. Pay what you can.” Families are welcome.
Scrag Mountain Music seeks to help audience members and performers move beyond experiencing classical music as an intellectual exercise, and rather approach music with open hearts and ears. During the concert, the performers will explore the music with the audience to help audience members find personal connections with the pieces.
Prior to the 7 p.m. Friday night concert at Green Mountain Girls Farm, there will be a soup and sides supper. The entirely local informal meal will be on offer at the farmstand from 5:30 to 6:30 for $10, children 12 and under $5. The pregnant goats, heritage breed pigs and hard-working hens will all be accepting visitors.
