Police Report
January 18
12:11 a.m. - Intoxicated Person - An officer was dispatched to the area of Cumberland Farms for the report that a male was highly intoxicated and walking south on North Main Street from Cumberland Farms. Upon my arrival, I observed a subject walking south towards Convenience Plus. I could clearly see as I drove by that his gait was unsteady and haphazard. The male, over 21, was identified and given a ride to his home.
5:43 a.m. - Custodial Dispute - The complainant advised that her ex had their child and was refusing to bring him back after a visitation. They were to meet a 6 and that had not happened. After talking with the other parent it was determined that the roads were bad and there was a tree down across the road preventing thru traffic. Both parties were advised they needed to resolve the visitations schedule with family court.
10:01 a.m. - Citizen Assist - A citizen came to the department to report a motor vehicle collision that had occurred on Depot Square. The complainant’s vehicle had been parked in front of Depot Pizzeria. As he was exiting the building he witnessed the plow affixed to the vehicle operating next to his scrape his parked truck. The two operators exchanged information. The complainant came to the department to have the incident on record.
1:52 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - A parent contacted me in reference to an altercation that his son had been involved in at the Northfield Elementary School. He claimed that the school was failing to take appropriate action, and that he had followed up with the Vermont Dept. of Education. He reported that the VT Dept. of Education told him to file a report with us. To date the parent has not returned his written statements.
9:53 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer was asked to respond with Northfield Ambulance to assist with an intoxicated 19 year old. On arrival, several underage violations were found and all were issued paperwork to participate in the Teen Alcohol Safety Program.
10:24 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - An officer was contacted about several items being left in the parking lot of a local convenience store. No information was available about the owner, but the items were taken for safe keeping. Items can be claimed at the police department.
January 19
8:52 a.m. - Cond of Release - Daniel Golfin, age 38, of Northfield violated a condition of his court ordered conditions of release. Golfin was issued a citation to appear as Washington County Superior Court; Criminal Division on 1-26-12, at 12:30 to answer to the charge of Violation of Conditions of Release.
11:07 a.m. - Citizen Dispute - An officer responded to a citizen dispute. The complainant called to report that he could hear a lot of yelling coming from another apartment. Upon arrival, I found that the dispute had ceased. When I spoke with the tenants I found that one subject had been involved in a verbal altercation with his mother. The mother had left the apartment prior to my arrival. A witness in the apartment confirmed it was a verbal conflict.
11:39 a.m. - Fraud - The department took a fraud complaint. The officer is waiting for the written statements.
11:44 p.m. - Found Property - A Vermont registration plate was brought to the police department. The citizen had found the plate in the roadway. The officer took the plate and located the owner.
12:26 p.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Kevin Lacillade, age 21, of Northfield was cited with Unlawful Mischief. Police were notified of a verbal dispute that had occurred, during which Lacillade damaged several items in a public area of an apartment building. Lacillade was issued a citation to appear at Washington County Superior Court; Criminal Division on 2-16-12, at 12:30 to answer to this offense.
January 20
3:29 a.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer was asked to respond to I-89 for a vehicle off the road in the median, unknown injuries, as no troopers were available. The vehicle was just north of Exit 5 heading southbound. The officer located the vehicle which had simply slide off the road incurring no damage and causing no harm to the occupant. The officer provided traffic control while the vehicle was pulled out by a tow truck.
5:34 p.m. - MV Complaint - Officers located a disabled vehicle on VT RT 64 near Loop Road. As we were exiting our vehicle, a tow truck arrived to tow the vehicle. We stood by and provided emergency lighting while the vehicle was being removed from the roadway.
8:39 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance – Officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious male looking into vehicles on North Main Street and upon arrival officers spoke to Rory J. Hendy, age 51, of Northfield who appeared to be intoxicated. Upon check of Mr. Hendy’s conditions of release, it showed that we was not allowed to purchase, possess or consume alcohol and that he was to stay out of any bars. He was arrested for violation of these conditions and was cited to appear in court on January 26.
10:35 p.m. - Controlled Substance Problem - While on patrol an officer saw a vehicle enter Memorial Park on King Street after curfew. The officer stopped the vehicle and upon speaking with the occupants discovered drug paraphernalia in the car. A parent was contacted and the situation dealt with through parental oversight.
January 21
12:04 a.m. - Intoxicated Person - Officers responded to suspicious activity on Kent Street where several persons were encountered and a party was underway. The resident of the house was hosting the party and gave officers permission to check on the age or party goers. Several under age drinkers were encountered during the check with several minors in possession of alcohol, whereupon the officers arrested Stevre Losse, 20 of Miami, Florida as a minor in possession of alcohol it being his third offense.
10:12 a.m.. - Accident PD - In this matter police were called to a two vehicle car crash in front of the Northfield Savings Bank on South Main Street, there were no injuries, upon further investigation a third vehicle that had been parked and unattended was also struck as a result of this crash.
12:21 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - In this matter police were contacted due to a problem concerning the repossession of a vehicle. Police responded and the matter was taken care of prior to the arrival of police.
6:01 p.m. - Accident PD - An officer was dispatched to a minor two car crash on North Main Street. The officer arrived and found the cars in a nearby lot. One vehicle pulled out of a parking spot and made contact with a northbound vehicle. There was very minor damage to both, so the operators exchanged information and will be dealing with their own insurance companies. No crash report needed.
January 22
1:39 a.m. - Noise Disturbance - Officers responded to the report of a noise complaint. Upon arrival, and speaking with the tenants, one party goer attempted to sneak out of the residence via a back window. He was determined to be under the age of 21, and was issued a referral to the Teen Alcohol Safety Program. The tenants were issued written warnings for the noise violation. The rest of the party goers were screened, and no other individuals were underage.
12:08 p.m. - Found Property - In this matter a set of keys with a Shaws Club ID found. Contacted Shaws who in turn contacted the owner of the keys and the two were united.
10:30 p.m. - Phone Problem /Harassment – The complainant reported having received numerous text messages from the defendant. This would be a violation of a final relief from abuse order. I attempted to speak with the defendant, but no one answered the door. Under investigation.
January 23
8:31 a.m. - MV Complaint - The complainant advised that while driving to work she had stopped at a crosswalk for a pedestrian. While stopped a vehicle approached from her rear, swerved around her and proceeded through the crosswalk towards an oncoming car. She had the vehicle’s registration plate and a description of the operator. Under investigation.
8:52 a.m. - Agency Assistance - The department was requested to responded to the reported of an injured deer. The Vermont Fish and Game warden was unavailable to respond to this area. The on duty officer drove down VT Rt 12a to the reported area but did not find any injured animal anywhere. VSP dispatch was advised to notify the warden for follow up. Nothing further.
11:28 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance – An officer received a complaint about suspicious activity that had occurred just a few moments prior. The officer is investigating.
4:06 p.m. - Parking Problem - The department received a report of a vehicle parked in the middle of the street with no one around. The officer responded to the area.
4:23 p.m. - Phone Problem / An officer was advised by dispatch of a phone harassment complaint. I was able to obtain a copy of the text messages/conversation between the two parties. Due to the somewhat gray area concerning the content of messages and wording of the abuse prevention order, I will complete an affidavit for review by the Washington County States attorney’s office.
8:33 p.m. - Noise Disturbance - An officer responded to the report of a noise complaint.The complainant advised her neighbor was playing his car radio very loudly. I was advised this is a common occurrence, but tonight the music is very loud. Upon my arrival the subject was inside the residence and there was no more noise. I spoke with the subject about the complaint, and explained the Northfield Noise Ordinance.
5:14 p.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Police met with a victim of an alleged domestic assault. As a result of an investigation, Patrick Fleury, age 32, of Northfield, VT was arraigned at court on 1-25-12 by the VT Attorney General’s Office for charges of domestic assault.
January 24
9:06 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance – A local service station called the department because there was a past customer at their establishment that had not paid a previous bill and now wanted more gas again on credit. The would be customer was not leaving the area. The officer responded and spoke with the subject. It was determined that he would be getting some money to pay for the previous purchase and then would be able to get more gas with cash.
2:50 p.m. - Custodial Dispute - The department was contacted by the Northfield Middle High School regarding a dispute that was happening in the main lobby. The parents were having a custody discussion and the school wanted the police to respond before the conversation got out of control.
5:30 p.m. - MV Complaint - In this matter, police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle pedestrian crash on North Main Street (Vt Rt 12 North) in Northfield Falls section of Northfield. The pedestrian was treated and stabilized at the scene by Northfield Rescue and transported by the DART Helicopter to the Medical Trauma Center at Dartmouth Medical Center in Hanover NH. The case is currently under investigation.
9:21 p.m. - Litter/Pollution/Public Health – An officer received information regarding littering at a business on North Main Street. The business owner had located several bags of garbage along with cardboard boxes in his business dumpster. Under investigation.
