Barbara Doney Jenkinson, 81, NHS Class of 1949

Barbara Doney Jenkinson, (81), died on Friday January 4Th 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness. Born November 30th 1931 in Northfield Falls VT, she was the daughter of the late Edward (Ted) and Margaret (Legier) Doney.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 63 years, John V. Jenkinson, four sons, John Jr and wife Carol of West Berlin VT, Mark and wife Kathryn of Wilbraham MA, David and wife Jeannie of Concord MA, Jeffrey and wife Mary of Sudbury MA, two sisters, Nancy (Wendell) Plastridge of Northfield Vermont, Linda (Joseph) Brodasky of Mystic CT, and two brothers, Linwood (Marsha) Doney of Northfield Falls VT, and Stephen (Denise) Doney of Williston VT; ten grandchildren, Amy (William) Crocker, Nan (Jeff) O’Connor, Brett Jenkinson, Haley Jenkinson, John V Jenkinson III (Caitlin), John Francis Jenkinson , Rebecca Jenkinson, Bradford Jenkinson, Alaina Jenkinson, and William Jenkinson; seven great-grandchildren, Margaret, William, John, Kate, Michael, Luke, and John IV, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister; Evelyn Wilson, two brothers Harold and George Doney and one beloved grandson Erik Jenkinson.

Barbara grew up in Northfield Falls VT, graduating from Northfield High School in 1949. She lived in Burlington VT while husband John attended UVM then to Woburn and Lexington, MA where she lived most of her life and raised her family. Barbara loved travel, Ogunquit ME and Cape Cod being favorite vacation destinations. She enjoyed special time with her grandchildren, was an avid reader and enjoyed a good spirited political debate, Barbara was a loved and trusted source of spiritual comfort for many a friend of Bill.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield VT, January 19th at 11:00am. Burial will be in the Northfield Falls Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
