Walworth “Wally” Hauver, Jr., 83, Navy Vet

Walworth “Wally” Hauver, Jr. 83, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his home in Milton. He was born in Northfield Falls on May 23, 1929, the son of Walworth & Sadie (Ashline) Hauver. He is a graduate of Northfield High School, class of 1947.

Wally enlisted in the United States Navy on September 28, 1948 and was honorably discharged September 23, 1952.

He married Anna “Ann” Taylor on December 8, 1951 in Cranston, Rhode Island. They lived forty nine years in Southington, Connecticut, moving to their present home in Milton in August 2007. They wintered in Sarasota, Florida for 17 years.

He worked many years in the automobile parts business in Connecticut. He was an avid runner virtually all of his life, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Hauver of Milton; one son, Keith Hauver and his friend, Bob Beaty of Fayetteville, NC; one daughter, Janet Gilbert and her husband, Daniel of Williston; one sister, Kathryn Haupt of Morrisonville, NY; 5 grandsons, Jason Carmichael, Joseph Carmichael, Joshua Carmichael, Justin Hauver, David Hauver; 4 great grandchildren, Maryanne Hauver, Danielle Hauver, Ella Carmichael, Hayden Carmichael; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his son in-law, Philip Carmichael.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Randolph Center, followed by burial with military honors to be accorded.

Family would like to thank, Fletcher Allen Nursing Staff, Bayada Hospice Staff, Drs. Melissa Gibson & Julian Sprague for all of their care and compassion during Wally’s illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1460, Williston, VT 05495-1460. Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield is in charge of the arrangements.
