Police Report

July 10

7:12 a.m. - SOT - an officer assisted Lafayette Inc. with traffic direction as they replaced road signs on South Main Street and North Main Street. Nothing further.

7:16 a.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - An officer responded to the report of an individual blocking traffic at the junction of Union Brook Road and Aseltine Road. The complainant described the individual. I responded to the area and saw nobody impeding the flow of traffic. I spoke with an individual fitting the description and explained to him the severity and safety hazards that are presented by his actions.

4:29 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - A state housing authority employee contacted the Northfield Police Department to relate some concerns about the behavior of a resident at a local state housing complex. The issues were already being looked into as a result of other complaints. Since Police intervention early in the week no further complaints had been made regarding this matter. Officers had also made several follow-up visits to the complex throughout the week.

5:50 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - An officer responded to the Dogwood Glen complex for the report of a citizen's dispute. Some residents were concerned about the behavior of another resident. I spoke with the concerned parties and mediated the squabble. On Thursday I returned and spoke with all parties involved to ensure no further flare-ups has occurred. I was informed no further issues has arisen. I encouraged the people involved to call the police to prevent escalation.

9:13 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer responded to West Berlin, Vermont to assist a Berlin Officer with an assault that occurred where a knife was involved. The subject was dealt without incident.

10:07 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer assisted a deputy from the Orange County Sheriff's Department with attempting to locate a subject in Northfield, Vermont. The officers were unable to locate the subject.

10:37 p.m. - Agency Assistance - Officers responded to assist a Berlin Officer calling for immediate assistance. The officer was dealing with a subject who had resisted the officer and dragged one Berlin Officer by use of a motor vehicle. The subject fled the area. Northfield Officer assisted with establishing a perimeter while a police k-9 tracked the subject.

July 11

7:24 a.m. - SOT - Police assisted with the road construction on Main Street by providing blue lights while new street signs were installed. Services Rendered. Nothing Further.

8 a.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Police and the Northfield Ambulance Service responded to a report of an individual experiencing a mental health emergency. Police and EMS personnel were able to transport the individual to the Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment.

11:56 a.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - An officer received a report of suspicious activity at a residence. I was advised that they had discovered several unusual circumstances after a tenant had moved out of the rental property.

4:22 p.m. - Citizen Assist - We responded to assist community care home staff with locating a patient who had departed from the facility. The patient was located a short distance away and was returned to the facility without incident.

July 12

7:33 a.m. - SOT - Police assisted with the road construction on Main Street by providing blue lights while new street signs were installed. Services Rendered. Nothing Further.

2:29 p.m. - Juvenile Problem - A female came to the police station to report that two juveniles put hand sanitizer on her car in Memorial Park. The juveniles were described and the area was checked to no avail.

4;11 p.m. - Theft - Police reponded to the report that an mployee had just stolen alcohol from Convenience Plus. Upon arrival the officer met with staff. While speaking with the staff the accused, Faye Dowen, 23, of Northfield returned. Dowen was arrested for Retail Theft and for Violating her probation.

10:22 p.m. - Noise Disturbance - Officers were dispatched to a noise disturbance on South Main Street in Northfield, Vermont. Officers contacted the resident and advised them to turn loud music being played down as it violated the Northfield Noise Ordinance. The resident immediately turned the music down and apologized as they had not realized it was as late as it was.

July 13

10:58 a.m. - Agency Assistance - Police assisted the Berlin Police Department in their pursuit of Reuben Adams, age 35, wanted for several criminal charges, by responding to the pursuit and searching the surrounding area. Adams managed to escape. Please look for addition information on Adams on the Northfield Police Department Facebook Page, and contact Northfield PD if you have any information on the whereabouts of Reuben Adams.

12:23 p.m. - SOT - Police participated in the Governor of Highway Safety's Program. Police patrolled the Town of Northfield and West Berlin, and detected several traffic violations to include seat belt violations and DUI. Nothing Further.

3:46 p.m. - DUI - Police conducted a traffic stop at South Village Mobil in the Town of Northfield while participating in the VT Governor of Highway Safety's program. During the stop, police determined that the driver, Anna I. Bressor, age 24, of Northfield, was intoxicated and was taken into custody, released and cited to appear in court.

10:42 p.m. - Citizen Assist - The clerk closing the store was concerned about the presence of a truck in the parking lot as she was closing the store. The area was checked and everything was found to be ok.

July 14

12:22 p.m. - Lockout - A mother had accidentally locked her two year old in her car while cleaning up a mess that had been made in the Dollar General's parking lot. She immediately reported the incident and I responded having dispatch send North Main Auto to have the vehicle opened. The child was fine and happy to be back in their mothers arms.

6:41 p.m. - Threatening - An officer received a report of threatening behavior. The officer is investigating.

7:08 p.m. - Theft - The department received a call concerning an item that had been taken without permission. Under investigation.

July 15

12:04 a.m. - DUI - Police conducted a traffic stop on VT RT 12 North in the Town of Northfield. During the stop, police determined that the driver, Susan L. Davis, age 54, of West Berlin, was intoxicated. Davis was transported to the Northfield Police Department, and cited to appear in court.

6:35 a.m. - Unlawful Mischief - An officer responded to a business in the town of Northfield that had been the victim of vandalism the night before. I responded to the business and took pictures to document the damage done. Any information on vandalism in the area would be greatly appreciated.

12:02 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - Dispatch received a report of juvenile taking part in potentially dangerous activity. I responded and found the juvenile attempting to start a small fire in the wooded area behind his house. I spoke with the juvenile and we talked about how that could be dangerous without any supervision and about recent fires in the news such as the ones in Arizona. The juvenile agreed and apologized for his actions.

1:55 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - Two individuals came into the department to report a specific person that they both work with for making threatening remarks towards them. I provided both people with statements and had them fill out what had taking place.

3:57 p.m. - Wanted Person - Northfield police arrested Edward Stone, 29, of Northfield for violations of conditions of probation. A warrant for $1,000 was issued for Stone by the courts for failure to abide by probation conditions. He was lodged in Barre City for lack of bail.

11:28 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - An officer was contacted regarding an unwanted person at a residence. The officer responded. A notice against trespass was served.

July 16

11:53 a.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - An officer responded to a report of a dispute. I was advised that an individual was refusing to leave a residence. Prior to Police notification, the individual left the premises, and no further Police response was requested by the complainant. Police did check the area to ensure there were no problems when the individual departed from the area, and found none.

3:47 p.m. - Accident PD - An officer responded for a report of a vehicle vs. backhoe crash. There were no reports of injury. It was determined that the backhoe was parked, when another vehicle inadvertently backed into it. The incident was not investigated due to the fact that it occurred in a parking lot. The case number was provided to those involved for insurance reporting purposes.

10:33 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - Officers observed that the porta potty located in the parking lot of Memorial Park had been flipped on its side.
