Police Report

September 11

9:15 a.m. - DLS - Police performed a traffic stop in the Tops parking lot and during the stop it was discovered that Tammy Eaborn, the driver was operating under criminal suspension. The driver was taken to the Northfield Police Department for processing and released on a citation.

12:09 p.m. - Animal Problem - An officer was on bicycle patrol when a dog from a residence on Cemetary street was found to be at large. The dog charged at me from the property and began barking at me as I was biking on the opposite side of the roadway. The dog came to the middle of the road and continued barking in an aggressive manner. The dog had apparently slipped its lead. The owner came out and retrieved her dog. Proper leashing of dog was discussed.

6 p.m. - MV Complaint - Northfield police were notified about a vehicle that had been damaged while parked in its driveway. Police are investigating.

6:15 p.m. - Parking Problem - Police responded to a parking complaint on Elm St. Both ends of lower Elm St. were blocked by parked cars. Both vehicles were moved by their respective owners and warned not to obstruct traffic in the future.

8:17 p.m. - Noise Disturbance - Officers responded to a noise complaint on South Main Street. Upon arrival, Officers were unable to hear the noise being complained about. Officers suggested the complainant call when the noise was occurring.

10:57 p.m. - Intoxicated Person - Police received a report of an intoxicated individual at the Cumberland Farms. Police assisted the individual back to a friend's residence, who took custody of the individual for the night. Nothing further.

11:24 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - An officer observed two people standing outside a closed business on North Main Street. The male was at the back door, and appeared to be trying the door. During the subsequent investigation it was determined he was looking at material left outside the business for a potential project. It was recommended to him to speak with the owner during business hours about obtaining scrap.

September 12

12:45 a.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - Norwich reported an incident to the PD that involved one of their students being stopped by an unmarked sedan by an officer in plain clothes. Upon investigation it was determined that the stop was made by someone impersonating an officer. Northfield PD would like to remind everyone that officers in town immediately identify themselves to whomever they come in contact with, and that all patrol officers wear uniforms unless performing a special duty or undercover

2:19 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - Police received a report of suspicious activity. I had the individual fill out a statement.

September 13

7:48 a.m. - Lost Property - An individual reported that the front license plate of her car was missing. I opened an incident and took down the necessary information needed.

12:34 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - Police received a report of someone actively breaking into their home. I responded to the residence and secured the property. Photos were taken.

1:02 p.m. - Theft - A report was made to NU Security that property had been stolen.

4:14 p.m. - Custodial Interference - Police received a report of an individual have difficulty with family problems. I explained to the individual that there was no criminal matter at hand and that he needed to contact the family court. They appreciated the help.

10:30 p.m. - Noise Disturbance - Police received a noise disturbance complaint Occurring on South Main St, Northfield VT. Officers responded, and were able to hear unreasonable noise. Officers spoke with the tenants. A records check revealed no prior complaints were made on the current tenants. The Northfield noise ordinance was explained to them, and a written warning was issued.

September 14

12:38 a.m. - Agency Assistance - Police Officers responded to an address on S. Main St. Northfield VT at the request of the Northfield Ambulance members to assist with an intoxicated person. Officers arrived and assisted as needed. The patient was transported by ambulance without further incident.

12:07 p.m. - Agency Assistance - Police assisted EMS personnel with a patient who had gone to the Ambulance Bay and was experiencing chest pain. I assisted EMS personnel with patient care. Nothing further.

2:29 p.m. - Missing Person - Police received a report of overdue juveniles who had been at the park. I gathered the information concerning the incident and began to canvass the area. Shortly thereafter, I was advised that the juveniles had returned home without incident and no further Police action was necessary.

10:48 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - Officers were driving on Depot Square, and witnessed two males wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and masks. Officers were able to speak with one of the males, who advised that they were just out goofing around. Officers advised the male of the dangers of what they was doing, and offered verbal counseling on other ways to spend their time. Nothing Further

September 15

1:48 a.m. - Noise Disturbance - Officers responded to the report of a noise complaint occurring on South Main Street. Officers responded and spoke with the tenants of an apartment who were hosting a party. The local noise ordinance was explained to them. A records check indicated none of the tenants had any prior warnings for noise violations. The tenants were issued written warnings for the noise violation.

1:59 a.m. - MV Complaint - An officer was contacted by Norwich University to assist with a motor vehicle that was trespassing on university property. The officer and Norwich staff attempted to locate the vehicle but were unsuccessful.

11:48 a.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - While operating stationary RADAR in the entrance of a multi dwelling area, the officer heard yelling though unable to hear what was being said. Shortly thereafter the officer heard more shouting and exited the cruiser to investigate the source of the noise. After speaking with a subject he did not detect any further activity from within the apartment, ie: crying, calls for help, etc... to warrant further emergency action.

12:51 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - Police met with a concerned citizen. There was partial information concerning a vehicle that had "rolled". The citizen was unable to provide any specific details to the location of the crash. Under investigation.

7:10 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - An officer received information regaring damage to the complainants property. Under investigation.

September 16

2;02 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - The Chief of Security at Norwich reported that one of their students was having an issue with a former relationship, and he wanted the PD to be aware in case there were any problems. Officers will be monitoring the situation.

September 17

10:13 p.m. - DLS - Northfield Police conducted a traffic stop on Wall Street in Northfield. During the stop, police determined Sean Michael Noonan, 38, of Morrisville, VT, had operated the motor vehicle with a criminally suspended license. Noonan was transported to the department and given a citation to appear in court.
