Violent Storm Hits Northfield

Slate Avenue in Northfield was hit by a violent storm on Saturday evening when a maple tree split and came down across the power lines and a power pole further up the street was sheered off cutting power to the houses immediately adjacent. Power was almost immediately restored by Green Mountain Power even though there were several outages around the area and a roof came off a building in Barre leaving several homeless. Areas of Union Brook were also
hit. Cleaning up the debris left by the storm and replacing the power pole on Slate Avenue will take a bit longer.
