Construction Update
Roxbury Northfield (VT 12A)

Project Location: The project extends along VT 12A from
about 3/4 of a mile north of the Granville/Roxbury Town Line
in Roxbury to the Northfield Village Limits for a distance of
9.6 miles.
Saturday (10/7) – Crews are tentatively scheduled to continue
installing new traffic signs in Roxbury. Final paving between
the Village of Roxbury and Northfield is scheduled to start the
week of October 16th, weather permitting. Following final
paving, crews will install centerline rumble strips in posted 50
mph speed zones, line stripe and install gravel shoulders.
Mailboxes will also be adjusted following paving.
Reduced Speed Limit: For the safety of construction crews and
motorists on VT 12A, VTrans has contacted the VT State Police
to begin patrolling the project to enforce the reduced posted
speed limit of 40 mph. PLEASE REDUCE SPEED and USE CAUTION
driving through the project.
Week of October 9th, 2017
There will be several active construction operations within the
project this week. Expect traffic delays on VT 12A this week.
• Crews will continue installing new traffic signs between
Warren Mountain Road and the south end of the project in
• Paving of side road entrances and driveway aprons will occur
from the southern limit of the project in Roxbury and progress
• Ditching crews will be cleaning ditch lines between Freeman
Road and the project limit.
• Guardrail crews will be working between Potato Hill Road
and Stony Brook Road.
• Culverts will be cleaned near the Roxbury/Northfield line
and Sullivan Hill Road.
Travel will be reduced to one lane with alternating one way traffic
around all operations. Flaggers will be present to assist in
maintaining traffic flow.
Traffic – Traffic delays are expected this week.
It is illegal in VT to use any handheld portable electronic
devices while driving. The law carries fines of up to $200 with
points assessed if the violation occurs in a work zone.
