Brig. Gen. Natali to Speak at Norwich Veterans' Day

Norwich University will observe Veterans Day by conducting a Corps of Cadets review in honor of all veterans, past and present.  The reviewing officer and guest speaker is Brigadier General Michel Natali, Norwich Class of 1987.

Veterans, the public, and those currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States are cordially invited to attend the Veterans Day Observance on the Upper Parade Ground at Norwich University on Friday, November 10, 2017, at3:15 p.m.

The ceremony will include cannon fire in the Roll of Wars, a wreath laying, firing of three rifle volleys, and the playing of Echo Taps.

Highlighting the event will be reviewing officer and guest speaker Brigadier General Michel Natali, New York Army National Guard.

Brigadier General Michel A. Natali serves as the Commanding General, 53rd Troop Command, New York Army National Guard headquartered in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.  As Commanding General, he provides leadership and guidance for the formulation, development and implementation of all programs and policies affecting the 4,100 Soldiers of the Troop Command. The 53rd Troop Command is made up of three brigade level commands to include the 369th Sustainment Brigade, Harlem, N.Y.; the 153rd Troop Command, Buffalo, N.Y., and the 53rd Digital Liaison Detachment, Manhattan, N.Y. The 53rd Troop Command is also the headquarters for joint contingency operations in support of state homeland security missions in the lower Hudson Valley area. Embodying the Norwich model of citizen soldier, Natali is also a member of the New York State Police assigned as an Investigator to the Office of Counterterrorism.


Natali graduated from Norwich University with a Bachelor of Arts in Government, and commissioned into the Army in May 1987. Natali served on active duty for nine years as a Military Intelligence officer with assignments in Germany and Fort Drum. He also served in Haiti and Somalia. In 1996, Natali joined the New York Army National Guard, where he served in numerous assignments including Division G2, Counterdrug Commander and the Regional Training Institute Commander. General Natali also served a tour in Iraq as the Deputy G2 for the 42nd Infantry Division.  

An open reception will follow the outdoor ceremony in the foyer of Jackman Hall.

The uniform for this special event is the Service Class A uniform. Please plan on cold weather and dress accordingly.
