Robert “Tim” Smith, 72, with Gross Trucking

Robert “Tim” Smith, 72, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the University Medical Center with his family at his side.  He was born July 16, 1945 in Moretown, the son of Allen & Avis (Goodell) Smith. He is a graduate of Montpelier High School, class of 1964.
He married Beverly Jean Drought in Montpelier on April 17, 1965.
He worked for many years with Walter H. Contracting in Montpelier, Gross Trucking in Northfield and C & W Services, retiring July 21, 2017.
He enjoyed doing “search a word” books, various outdoor work for neighbors and family, and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Northfield; two children, Debra Walker of Florida, Tina Smith of Waterbury Center; three siblings, Kenneth Smith of Hyde Park, Richard Smith of Connecticut, Betty Plante of Barre; three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by 8 siblings.
A celebration of his life will be conducted Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10 am at the Kingston Funeral Home, 35 Slate Avenue in Northfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or Central VT Humane Society, PO Box 687, Montpelier, VT 05601-0687.
