JSC Theater Group Presents “Big Love”

JOHNSON, VERMONT — The student theater troupe at Johnson State College will stage “Big Love,” a play that raises issues of love, gender politics and domestic violence, Feb. 15-18 at the Dibden Center for the Arts on campus.
Performances will start at 7 p.m. Feb. 15-17 and 2 p.m. Feb. 18. Tickets are $10 a person (cash only) for the public.
“Big Love,” by American playwright Charles Mee, is based on the ancient Greek play “The Suppliants” by Aeschylus. The play is about a group of Greek women who take sanctuary in an Italian manor to avoid marrying their cousins. The JSC production will modernize the original Greek story, in part by the grooms-to-be ambushing the women by helicopter. Seasoned Burlington-based actress Dana Block will direct the production.
Cast members include Vermonters Katelyn Shaw of Morrisville as Lydia, Brittney Malik of Randolph as Olympia, Troy McCabe of Windsor as Nikos, Jody Kifner of Strafford as Piero/Leo and Jacob Müther of Baltimore as Giuliano.
To reserve tickets, contact the Dibden Center box office at jscboxoffice@jsc.edu, or call 635-1476 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
